Draw Near to God and He Will Draw Near to You

Share!

Have you ever prayed an intense prayer where you implored the Lord to intervene in your life?

When Moses saw a bush that was burning, but not consumed, he drew near to it. God was there and gave Moses his assignment. Exodus 3:3

When Joshua saw an unusual figure with a sword drawn, Joshua approached him, only to discover He was the Commander of the Lord’s army – probably Jesus Himself. By drawing near, Joshua was in a position to receive instructions. Joshua 5:13-14

Mary leaned in to listen carefully to the angel that gave her the news of her assignments. Luke 1:38

When the Magi saw the special star, which turned out to be planets circling the star Regulus (word root for regal), they approached Jesus. They encountered the King of kings and took instructions from God. Luke 2

In each encounter, the individuals made eye contact with God. Have you ever allowed God to intervene in your life as you offer yourself as a gift to Him? It is straightforward to have the Lord give you a keen sense of His presence. How? Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands…and purify your hearts,…Humble yourselves before the Lord and He will exalt you. James 4:8,10

Are you willing to say like Moses, “Here I am?” or like Joshua, “What message does my Lord have for his servant?” or like Mary, “I am the Lord’s servant?” Find jobs in missions that fit you as a supported missionary or a volunteer. The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God … For no word from God will ever fail.” Mary answered, “I am the LORD’s servant, may your word to me be fulfilled.” Luke 1:38

Now when Joshua was near Jericho, he looked up and saw a man standing in front of him with a drawn sword in his hand. Joshua went up to him and asked, “Are you for us or for our enemies?

“Neither.” he replied, “But as commander of the army of the Lord I have now come.” Then Joshua fell facedown to the ground in reverence, and asked him, “What message does my Lord have for his servant?” Joshua 5:13-14

So Moses thought, “I will go over and see this strange sight—why the bush does not burn up.” When the Lord saw that he had gone over to look, God called to him from within the bush, “Moses! Moses!” And Moses said, “Here I am.” Exodus 3:3-4
